I have played a psion since release and have seen the ups and downs for our class, and I have another option which I think is more likely to happen. Why not change all the other classes to make them like psions.
Necromancers:
Turn half a necromancers DOTs into illusions that let the necromancer look like various undead.
Change fear so that it only works on low level mobs "with brains" and not every frigging thing thats not a 5 star, and some that are.
Cause the necromancer Abomination to randomly turn into an "Evil Abomination" and then start attacking the necromancer.
Increase the health drain on Transmogrify so that is is completely useless without a dedicated healer.
Remove self heal abilities and replace them with an ability you can get by attacking a certain mob at a certain time, then make that heal bugged.
Give their feign death ability a 30 minute refresh and let it only work on non dotted mobs.
Paladin:
Give paladins a very powerful chain that can only be used at >20m away from mob.
Give paladin's an ability to drop all agro onto the lowest AC caster of the group, preferably the healer.
Make paladin's a "Tanking" class by lowering their AC and giving everyone else in game some similar abilities. Also make high level mobs "immune" to the paladin's AC.
Sorcerer:
Since sorcerers are the caster DPS class, give them one ability that does infinity +1 damage but also self inflicts damage equivalent to %110 of their life. Also an infinitely long charm ability that has a %50 chance to break after ten seconds, and will definitely break after 2 minute, even with low level mobs. (Maybe then they can quit complaining about things they don't understand as anything more than numbers.)
Cleric:
Change the cleric's armor class to a wet beach towel. Make all the powerful cleric heal spells self inflict damage. Give the clerics a way to drop agro that only works once a day. Oh and give them a few illusions that make them look like ancient religious figures, but have no actual influence on anything.
Bard:
I really can't think of anything. I don't like bards. I think the best option is to make all of their song based buffs bug regular buffs and cause invisibility and lev to drop at bad times, and other such problems. Wait that happens already. I know, make bard songs only work while in a group.
I will come out with more later, but the point of this rant is that although Psionicist abilities are nice, the strong ones like Thought Surge and Thought Pulse are fairly useless unless you have a dedicated healer. Our wonderful crowd control abilities are completely useless in raid content and against many high level mobs. Our ability to manage agro is wonder full but most classes have some ability to drop or gain agro, keeping us from being essential for raids. About the only nice thing I see with being a high level Psionicist is the ability to do long term damage due to Thought Thief, but a necromancer can out DPS us long term with a healer. I still have a couple levels to go to get to 50 but I don't see anything that will keep my regularly playing my Psionicist after I get there. The class has gone from something that was supposed to be unique, such as having a different way that energy works and just being a different kind of caster, to being a quirky jack of all trades (except healing) with equivalent crowd control abilities to a necromancer, a short term high DPS which causes self inflicted damage to a low hit points low AC class, an agro control ability which is unique in its versatility but not it's end result.
In conclusion, please do not make Psionicist the ultimate DPS caster class in order to make up for the lack of development to a class that was supposed to be unique and important. If this game is ever going to compete with WOW and grab more players it is going to do so by being unique, but the unique factors of the game have been underdeveloped at best, and in some cases dropped (such as regional trade, the only high end content for diplomats). I want to see Vanguard and the Psionicist class succeeded, but I wish them to succeeded to their full promise, not as hollow shells of what they could be. |

Here is what Sony says about Psions:
The Psionicist is the master of the psionic energies, having abilities to give the power to blast foes with mental energy, create large area destructive spells, stop a foes heart and even enter opponents minds, rendering them paralyzed. The Psionicist uses powers to destroy the enemy ranks and to protect and augment his allies. The Psionicist is a poor melee combatant, but his vast mental powers more than make up for it.
Here is what it should say:
The Psionicist is the master of the same thing every other caster can do, having abilities to give the power to blast foes with mental energy which is strangely just like every other energy, create large area destructive spells but by destructive we mean they will kill YOU, and even enter opponents minds, rendering them paralyzed as long as your opponent isn't important. The Psionicist uses powers to destroy the enemy ranks similarly to every other caster and to protect and augment his allies with buffs that will probably cause most high end psions to become guild buff bots. The Psionicist is a poor melee combatant, but his mediocre "mental" powers make you wonder why everyone doesn't roll a Necro which can do the same thing and HEAL.
Now to everyone that thinks our class is balanced, I have several questions: Why is no one responding to my posts? I doubt I speak for everyones opinion, and I welcome other views. Why is mindsay almost always quiet? Why is it impossible to throw a stone without hitting a necro, but rarely do you have two Psions grouped together? I sadly feel that it doesn't matter how you calculate DPS, or how you weight our abilities, our class is the worst in the game, and the server population of active and adventuring psions proves it. We have a hard class to play effectively, with few benifits compaired to all our problems. |

| Please take some time and review previous posts made here, you will see that there is little anyone can say or add to the list of problems and solutions that has not already been said. I read everything that is posted here so please do not think me or Brahman are apathetic to our situation. We will be getting revamped, I have a spreedsheet making the case for changes to many of our spells/abilities, some will get made others will not, Some people will call me a hero when its done, others will send me death threats because I did not get them what they wanted, its that simple. You have the benefit of having 2 class leads with very different play styles to provide balance. |

| I apreciate your response, and I openly admit that my complaignts are not unique or original, that is why I put them in the rants section. I apreciate the fact that the class is going to get revamped someday; however, the class will be dead in 6 months at this rate, so that someday better happen soon. If all else fails, make the necro class lead play a psion untill the issues are resolved. |
